The name seemed fitting as I debated whether to finish or not several times throughout the process of making her, but I persevered.
I was having issues with the cord. It was supposed to be a 5mm rope, but was much thicker than that - more like 9mm.
My solution was to separate the 3 ply rope and use the strands individually.
The cording also had an almost rough feel that didn't thrill me at first, but I eventually grew to love.
I think the imperfections of the rope give the overall piece a more natural and organic look.
And the texture is amazing!
As in life there are no mistakes, only learning opportunities.
Suzanne, I love it! My first reaction before reading your commentary was I love the drape of the rope.
ReplyDeleteThanks Rita! She tried my patience, but I am happy with how she turned out.
DeleteIt's so pretty! And I love the piece of wood you hung it on, it looks great with it.
ReplyDeleteThanks Suchot! I agree - I think the birch branch adds to the 'natural' look that I so love.
