Saturday Sparks Link Party 409

Welcome to Saturday Sparks 409!

Starting off today's party with the story behind this picture!

Icy Driveway Accident at Pieced Pastimes

This photo popped up in my feed the other day and immediately took me back to that day.

While our winters are beautiful here, they can also be challenging at times.

In February of 2019, a combination of snow, cold temperatures and freezing rain left our part of the state covered in a heavy glaze of ice.

Darling hubby was plowing the driveway when in the blink of an eye, the blade caught a mound of ice, which abruptly spun the truck around and down the banking.

By the grace of God, the edge of the truck body caught the only tree standing between it and the icy pond below by a mere inch!

This truly was a 'count your blessings' moment.

"He knows not his own strength who hath not met adversity."

~ William Samuel Johnson

Now, let's get this party started.

    1. Thanks Shelley and yes, it was! Of course, my husband made out like it was no big deal, but I think it bothered it him much more than he let on. Life sure is an adventure! All my best, Suzanne.

  3. Oh boy, that memory is the kind that makes it really hard for me to like winter! So glad your hubby was spared. We are surrounded by hills here in WV, and that kind of winter scene is all too familiar. I am chasing winter blues this week and rest of this month. January is a tough one to weather. Thanks for sharing much needed inspiration through your party, Suzanne.

    1. Yes, Rita winter's are not for the faint of heart. As much as I love our winters, I too get the winter blues from time to time but force myself out into the fresh air and sunshine, limited though it may be. It does a world of good to boost my spirt and move past that feeling of unease. May January be kind to you. Your friend, Suzanne.

I loved all the posts you shared in your 2020 roundup and throughout the year. Your home decor is always lovely and inviting, your craft projects are inspiring and your tablescapes just say home. 6. Oh my goodness, talk about a close call! I bet that's now hubby's favorite tree on the lot. Thanks for hosting, Suzanne, and have a good weekend.

    1. Yes, it was a close call Marie. The tree has a small battle scar that serves as a reminder of the day and hopefully that will be the last time hubby needs its assistance. My best to you, Suzanne.

  8. Happy weekend, Suzanne! Living in the Pacific NW we don't see that kind of snow - just rain - I marvel at all you do come snow season. So thankfful for a safe outcome after the plow incident. Stay safe and cozy! Thank you, too, for featuring my pine cone bird feeders - another winter tradition. :) Best, Jen

    1. Thanks, Jen! It's funny how different the weather is from one part of the country to the other. Winter's here in New Hampshire are plenty fun, but there are some drawbacks. We adjust our sails as needed and move on. Once our snow melts, I may have to start gathering pine cones for your bird feeder idea! Take care, Suzanne.
