Tricycle Diaper Cake

A baby shower for my sweet niece was the perfect excuse to make this 'Tricycle Diaper Cake'.
Everyday baby essentials are combined to create the bike.
There are many online tutorials that show how to make these. I followed one by 'Maiden D'Shade' and found it quite easy to make.
I made a couple small changes from the tutorial. I bought size 3 diapers (instead of size 1) as I knew the baby would grow into this size quickly.
I made the two back tires bigger than the front tire. I used 24 diapers for each of the back tires and 20 diapers for the front tire.  To help in the formation of the tires, I used a 9" cake pan for the larger tires and an 8" pan for the smaller tire.
The bottom of the baby bottle serves as the headlight. Sweet little baby socks are used for the handle grips. I hid the heel of the sock by tucking it up into the cuff.
The remainder of the bottle replicates the gas tank and a  bib creates the bike seat.
Another bib works as a front fender. In case you were wondering, the expectant mom is having a boy - hence the blue theme.
Receiving blankets are rolled and weaved through the wheels to to create the frame and handlebars. Because I made larger tires, I needed longer axles for the rear. I rolled two blankets together to create a longer roll to thread through the back tires.
Ribbon accents add a finishing touch to complete the bike. The little tricycle is now ready to go.

'Saturday Sparks' party starts tomorrow at 9am EST . Stop by and join in the fun!
