Wingback Cane Chair Find and Decisions....

A recent Craigslist ad for an Antique Chair had me giddy with anticipation. I happily handed over my cash and drove home with this beauty.
A caned wingback chair holed up in a barn for some time, quietly waiting to be loved once more.
Perhaps it's just me, but I see nothing but character and potential.
She may not be perfect, but that's ok with me.  Perfection is overrated.
A good cleaning will do wonders for her. The caning is still in good condition, which is a testament to the quality workmanship done so long ago.
The upholstery has not survived so well, but that is a simple fix. Regarding "Decisions" - I am going back and forth as to whether I should leave the walnut wood natural or renew it with chalk paint.
I believe I will sit on it for a while and do the 'stop and stare' method before rushing into anything.

PS - Have you linked up to Saturday Sparks yet? The party is open till Friday. Hope to see you there.

  6. The chair is just fabulous! I love cane anything, and this is in perfect condition.
It's going to be amazing either way, painted or not, but I think the decision rests with the upholstery.
Can't wait to see which call you make! Thanks so much for sharing with us.

  8. Am drooling here.....what a lovely piece. I'm a sucker for the real wood look, but on occassion I do like a painted piece.( And I have painted several pieces that I've sold )If I were keeping it, I'd just clean it good and reupholster it, then when I was tired of that, paint it. Looking forward to seeing what you do with it.
