Our Fall Home and My 3 Step Approach to Simple Home Decor

The season of color lingers just outside our window.

As much as I love the bright foliage, I wanted a quieter version within these walls.

A tranquil space that would serve as a muted reflection of the glory outside.

To achieve this look, I followed my simple 3 step approach.

Step 1 is being guided by the 'less is more' state of mind.

As Marie Kondo says, "Keep only those things that speak to your heart".

Step 2 is practicing the 'art of making do'.

I reimagine long held treasures and style them in different ways to create a fresh look. On occasion, a newly found item will make its way into the mix.

Step 3 (and I think perhaps the most important) is to bring a touch of nature indoors.

Foraging for all things natural opens your eyes to the abundance that surrounds us.

No matter the season, there is always something of beauty to be found in nature.
