Fall Mantel 2014

A new season has begun, so it was time to refresh the mantel.

Crisp, cool days and brisk nights are a sure sign that Fall has arrived here in New England and it is welcomed with open arms.

These days, I find myself leaning towards a simpler, uncluttered decor style. Less is more seems to be my mantra of late.

For this mantel, I chose a neutral pallet and a few simple objects to reflect the season at hand.

A local gift shop carries a wonderful array of Amish made items. I purchased this wheat grass wreath and hung it from an old wooden gate.

Stacked books turned to the back and a few pumpkins - just enough.

Autumn is bursting with vivid colors outside, but is merely a whisper within the walls of our home.

A bundle of common reed (marsh grass) quietly rests in the cubby.

Our Fall mantel is bordering on the edge of minimalism, but that seems to be where my heart is these days.

  1. I love your mantel, Suzanne. That wreath is so simple and pretty, and the books and pumpkins are a nice neutral touch. I absolutely love the asymmetrical design of your mantel with that little "cubby" shelf underneath!
