Saturday Sparks Link Party 277

Welcome to Saturday Sparks 277!

We had a special visitor this week, so I thought I would share.

Thursday morning was quite rainy and I debated as to whether to go on my morning walk. Something inside pushed me to 'just do it'.

Forty minutes later my tired, wet self  was debating whether to walk the 'hill' one last time before heading back in. Something inside pushed me to 'just do it'.

As I neared the top of the slope, I locked eyes with a deer. He was young - spots still dotting his coat. We both stood paralyzed, unsure what to make of each other. He made the first move, gingerly stepping into the field. A few steps in, he stopped and looked back to see if I was still there. At one point, he bolted and raced off , then just as quickly circled back towards me. He then began prancing, kicking and jumping - like a joy filled child bursting at the seams. Several minutes later, he calmed himself and once again headed in my direction. At this point, I am completely drenched and chilled to the bone, but my heart is melting. I stepped toward him, he backed away. He stepped toward me and backed away. We continued to dance - each time, getting closer to one another until the distance between us could be measured with a yardstick. I stayed outside with him until my soaked, shivering body told me it was time to say our goodbyes. He lingered in the field a bit longer, then slowly wandered back into the woods.

I could only describe this chance encounter as a blessing and I am so thankful that something inside pushed me to 'just do it'.
