Macramé Wall Hanging

I have found a new hobby, or should I say it found me.

Macrame Wall Hanging at Pieced Pastimes

As you know, I follow a less is more approach with our home decor and find much of my inspiration from Blogs, Pinterest and Instagram. In recent days, I have spotted a quiet, but common denominator among some of my favorites - and that would be macramé, whether it be plant hangers, pillow covers, banners or wall hangings.

These knotted rope creations have caught my attention and I am loving the subtle but unique character they add to a space.

This seventies era craft is making a comeback and lines up perfectly with the scandi, boho chic, hygge filled decor style that so many love.

And yes, that is our sweet Sophie jumping in for a little photobomb.

This wall hanging is my first attempt at knot tying and I expect there will be many more to come.

To get my footing, I found inspiration from a couple tutorials on youtube namely, Sasha Macramessage and TN Art & Crafts.

As a quilter, I am drawn to all things involving texture and design. Macramé captures both of these elements beautifully.

I am now on the hunt for some driftwood or interesting branches to use for my next pieces. I have officially been hit with the creativity bug and I am loving every minute of it.

  1. Wow, Suzanne! That's incredibly beautiful. Yes, it brings to mind the 70s craft (I had an owl wall hanging, among other macrame things such as plant hangers), but it also gives off a kind of soulful, Native American vibe to me. I love it.

    1. Thanks Rita! I really didn't need another hobby, but I found this so relaxing to make that I consider it cheap therapy! 😀

    1. Thanks Patsy! It's a lovely hobby. I watched some you tube videos and read a few books and came up with this design. I have been itching to start tying some knots again. Thanks for the reminder! All my best, Suzanne.
