Saturday Sparks Link Party 439

Welcome to Saturday Sparks 439!

Starting off today's party with an unexpected lesson!

The other day, I was out walking and this frequent guest glided over me and landed on the roof of our house.

He sat for a few moments before flying off.

I wandered down to our back pond hoping to perhaps catch another glimpse of this 'Great Blue Heron'.

Sure enough, there he was beside the waters edge.

He stood motionless for the longest time, waiting for an opportunity.

Watching him reminded me of the virtue of patience.

This world could learn much from the lessons of nature.

"Now I see the secret of the making of the best persons. It is to grow in the open air, and to eat and sleep with the earth."

~ Walt Whitman

Now, let's get this party started.

  6. Suzanne, thank you for the weekend round up. It's always one of my favorite Saturday morning pastimes to sit and read with my coffee. Paula's fall painting definitely sparked a decor idea for me this morning! That photograph of yours with the heron is outstanding, not only for the lesson of patience you mention, but for its composition. It reminds me of a poster I had in my bedroom over 40 years ago with a tree on water's edge, similarly reflective. It read: "You never really leave a place you love. Part of it you take with you, leaving a part of you behind." Have a great weekend.

    1. Thanks, Rita! Paula's print captures the season perfectly and I look forward to seeing your inspired decor idea. I suspect that your poster from so long ago held a strong meaning for you since you were able to recite the beautifully written words so eloquently. As Marie Kondo says, it 'sparks joy'. Be well my friend, Suzanne.
