The bears have been pretty active this year.
After a long winter without them, they've reminded us that they are back, ready or not.
We've seen them several times over the past few weeks, strolling about like they own the place.
Love seeing them, albeit from a distance.

DeleteYikes, as far as I'd be concerned, the bear DO own the place! That's a pretty big 'un! Thank you for featuring my post and our Capitol. You see those hills behind it? They're also on the opposite side of the river (not pictured), and we have lots of black bears roaming in residential hill sections of town. It is our state animal. My sister-in-law's golden was attacked by a rather thin black bear (about 250#) on their own property about six years ago. My brother-in-law always hiked his property with his dog beside him. He always carried his bow, and had one arrow. The DNR had no issue with his self-defense. The golden retriever recovered, but had extensive surgery.

Thanks, Rita! This bear was a good size. They tend to use our property as a pass through, which is fine by me. That's sad about the golden, but I'm glad to know it recovered. I am always mindful when outside with our little fur balls for not only the bears, but the coyotes as well. This was their home long before it was ours. Loved your 250th Celebration post. The collection of founding fathers alongside that beautiful brass eagle really stood out for me. Wishing you a lovely week, my friend ~ Suzanne.
