Welcome to Saturday Sparks 621!
Starting off todays party with a reptilian visit!
Over the past week, we witnessed the yearly migration of several of the snapping turtles that live in our pond.
They climb out of the pond, up the steep hill, down the driveway and finally into the highest point of the field.
Eggs are laid and buried before they head back home.
It's a yearly ritual that we look forward to and our hard shelled friends never disappoint.
"And since all this loveliness cannot be Heaven, I know in my heart it must be June."
~ Abba Woolson

Wow... I've always been a fan of turtles and this one seems to be a senior? She looks lovely, and you're truly so lucky to live in a place where you can observe them 😊
ReplyDeleteThanks, Foodnutters! I would guess this snapper is about 15-20 years old based on her size and yes, she is lovely! One of the best things about living here is our 'window into the wild'! Have a lovely week ~ Suzanne.
DeleteSuzanne, what a lovely snapping turtle! My mom lives in AZ and has a few desert tortoises that live in her backyard. They are pretty much her pets now. She started feeding them leafy foods, and there is one that attempts to stand up at her back door, reminding her that it is feeding time, haha. I hope that you have a wonderful weekend. Thank you for hosting this wonderful linkup.
ReplyDeleteThanks, Stephanie! That is so fun that your Mom feeds the tortoises to the point that they are at the back door anticipating their next meal. Many smiles ~ Suzanne.
DeleteSuzanne,
ReplyDeleteThanks so much for hosting this charming party!! I really appreciate the time and effort that goes into it along with visiting all the links!! I hope you enjoy your weekend!

ReplyDeleteThanks, Rita! This has been a beautiful spring! The weather has been just perfect. I agree, if you only it would last forever. Hope you have a fabulous week ~ Suzanne.

Yes, it is Slabs! One of the perks of living here is seeing all the wildlife that we do. Thanks for linking up ~ Suzanne.
DeleteThank you so much for feature my post about potted roses! Also, so jealous (but in a good way) about the turtles. That must be amazing to witness! Thank you so much for all the work in hosting!
ReplyDeleteHappy to feature you, Angie! Roses are such a beautiful flower. It's good to know that you've had luck growing them in pots, and in chilly Minnesota to boot! And yes, it's always a treat to see the turtle migration. Have a great week ~ Suzanne.
DeleteHow very interesting that you have the opportunity to watch the snapping turtles leave the pond to lay their eggs and then return! Thanks so much for hosting the party. Wishing you a wonderful week, my friend!
ReplyDeleteThanks, Pam! We saw 5 of the turtles this year (on different days). I am always amazed at how far they travel to lay their eggs, especially when you see how much of a struggle it is for them to move on land. Their determination is something to behold! Sending you much sunshine, my friend ~ Suzanne.
DeleteThat is so very cool. Love it. Thanks for sharing it and a great pic. Thanks for hosting and I hope that you have a wonderful week.
ReplyDeleteYes, it is Patrick! Hope you have a great week ~ Suzanne.
