Saturday Sparks Link Party 674

Welcome to Saturday Sparks 674!

Starting off today's party with some yearly guests!

As you may recall, we have many snapping turtles living in our ponds.

They migrate from the pond up into our fields every year to lay eggs.

We have had more this year than any other.

On this particular day, there were 5 of them in various spots all over our property.

Over the course of the last few weeks, we have seen 20 or so.

Apparently, they like it here!

"Behold the turtle. He makes progress only when he sticks his neck out."

~ James Bryant Conant

  7. Love the turtles and the quote! We wait and watch for snapping turtles along our riverbank to appear on what we call turtle rock. This year there was a Big Kahuna! He/she looked like some of the really old ones we've seen at the Turtle Farm in Grand Cayman, no kidding! It's always fun to see what looks like a family of several small ones along with the bigger ones. Thanks for sharing that, and all the fun, patriotic foods for the 4th!
