Saturday Sparks Link Party 719

Welcome to Saturday Sparks 719!

Starting off today's party with an update on my sourdough journey!

I had fallen deep into the rabbit hole that is sourdough.

There is an endless amount of info on the subject and just as many differing opinions.

Preheat or cold start, dutch oven or open bake, starter ratios, hydration percent ratios, banneton or bowl.

The list goes on and on.

It was a little intimidating at first until I realized that there is no right or wrong way.

After trying several different recipes and methods, it dawned on me that every single loaf was absolutely delicious.

And that, after all is the most important measure.

"Good bread is the most fundamentally satisfying of all foods."

    1. Happy to host, Laura! It's always fun to hear that others are on the sourdough wagon and yes, there is nothing like the aroma of freshly baked bread. Many smiles ~ Suzanne.

  4. I've dabbled with sourdough and made a few passable loaves but my favourite things to make are pizza and discard crackers. Both are so easy and SO delicious. I'm thinking of attempting a ciabatta or focaccia next maybe, have you tried them? Your loaf looks amazing btw!

    1. Thanks, Sum of their Stories! Discard crackers are next on my list to try. I baked several loaves of focaccia today to give to my kids, but had to save one for DH as that is his favorite! I'm sure you'd love it too. Have a great week ~ Suzanne.

  5. That sourdough image is really inviting! Haven't tasted a slice yet that was not good. I enjoy sourdough with potato soup, yum!

  6. Good morning and happy Sunday. Thanks, Suzanne, for this party.
Bread baking - never attempted sourdough as my husband is not a fan, but I do bake an artisan bread at least twice a week and oh so so incredibly delicious. Enjoy your sourdough

  8. I love sourdough bread. We have a gal (who I happened to learn about from my plumber!) started a small business with pop up sales at our local farmers' markets. She makes so many different varieties, and I have loved them all. Your bread looks like a little work of art!
Rose's lemon cake looks outstanding, as does everything of hers I think I've ever seen!
    Happy Memorial weekend, Suzanne.

    1. Thanks, Rita! I have definitely gotten lost in all that is sourdough. There's a recipe for just about anything you could imagine using sourdough starter or discard, so I can picture your farmers market gal's creations. Wishing you a great Memorial Day, my friend ~ Suzanne.

  9. I love baking my own bread. Even though I use organic ingredients, the cost is at least half that of bread from a bakery. And I can modify it however I want.

    1. I agree, Mami Made It. Making your own bread is a cost saver, for sure and lacks all the additives that commercial breads contain. All my best ~ Suzanne.
