2020 Reflections

With the close of yet another year, it's time to take a look in the rear view mirror for a bit.

2020 Reflections at Pieced Pastimes

As I look back at some of the posts I shared this past year, I find myself reflecting on the unexpected twists and turns that occurred throughout the year.

No-one could have predicted the events that would unfold throughout the year and if they had, no-one would have believed them.

While there was much bad, there was also much good that came about.

The items below are just a small sampling of some of the positive things that took place.

    • The temporary halt of business and schools gave families the gift of time.

    • Appreciation for teachers, medical professionals and other 'essential workers' reached an all time high.

    • Global carbon dioxide emissions fell by record numbers.

    • The US voter turnout was the highest in over a century.

The old proverb 'necessity is the mother of invention' rang true throughout the year.

     • Virtual technology helped bridge the gap caused by social distancing.

     • Innovative companies repurposed their factories to produce life saving medical equipment.

     • Special occasions were celebrated via drive by parades, a new normal in 2020.

    • A new tradition of windowsill singalongs brightened the spirits of many during lock downs.

For some this was a wake up call, for others it was a gentle reminder and a chosen few recognized it as an affirmation to the life they had been living.
